With nearly 50,000 cumulative followers across all platforms, it’s time for a proper introduction to the man behind Abbreviated Apparel.
Mike Monnette grew up in Ohio as the eldest of seven children in a family of small business owners. From a young age, Mike had a keen interest in style and design, which eventually led him to a flourishing career in the fashion industry.
After college, Mike began his career at Abercrombie & Fitch. He started in finance, moved to the web team, and eventually joined the men's merchandising team. This diverse experience gave him a front-row seat to the end of the era documented in a Netflix special White Hot, and the beginning of the remarkable turnaround that the brand has accomplished in recent years.
Mike's journey continued when he was recruited by Old Navy and moved to the West Coast. There, he managed nearly every apparel category in the men's division, gaining invaluable experience that prepared him for his next big venture: founding Abbreviated Apparel, a clothing brand dedicated to shorter men, in 2023.
Today, Mike resides in Santa Monica with his wife, Ceci, who works at TikTok and runs an amazing personal finance page (@financesreimagined) that is worth checking out.
Through his social platforms, Mike aims to be a resource for those looking to enhance their style. He strives to offer practical and positive content, leveraging his extensive industry experience to help followers make informed clothing decisions. Additionally, he shares insights into his brand and the journey of running an online clothing business.
For Mike, style is about the journey of self-expression and the curation of a lifestyle rather than merely accumulating the latest trends. If this resonates with you, he would be honored to have you along for the ride.
Thank you for your support, and here’s to continuing this journey together.
