To anyone claiming that cotton and natural fibers are just as comfortable as synthetics when it's hot out, I've just gotta say... No, they are not.
@mikemonnette The social media menswear establishment might not like this one, but I've gotta keep it real. Unless some of your bodies are working differently than mine on a drastically different level, linen and cotton are just not as comfortable as synthetics. Up to a certain temperature I can hang, but once it gets really hot and humid I've gotta make changes for comfort (unless it's a wedding or something really special, then I'll suck it up). I'm going to follow this up with at least one more video on how to stay comfortable while still looking good. #mensfashion #menswear #mensstyle #summerstyle ♬ Gods creation - daniel.mp3
When the temperature soars and the humidity becomes oppressive, the comfort of your outfit can make or break your day. While natural fibers like cotton are often praised for their breathability, they simply don't stack up against the performance of synthetic materials in extreme heat.
The Aesthetics vs. Comfort Dilemma
If it's really hot but you want your outfit to look like something off a mood board, you're going to have to sacrifice some comfort. Women understand this well—they're not out here claiming high heels are just as comfortable as sneakers. Yet, they still wear them because they know they look good. It's a trade-off made for the sake of aesthetics.Embracing the Reality
Sometimes you've gotta sacrifice comfort for aesthetics, so we should just be honest about it. I'm currently back in Ohio, where it's 97°F with 70% humidity. In such conditions, the goal is no longer Pinterest-worthy outfits; it's survival. When the temperature is in the 70s or 80s, natural fibers can work. But when it's this hot out, give me all the stretchy, moisture-wicking synthetic materials. I will take the petrochemicals and microplastics and I will inject them straight into my own veins if it means not having to deal with swamp ass.
