@mikemonnette Testing out different hair styling products for a "flow" hair style. A challenge of growing your hair out is figuring out what to use as the length changes. You’re not going to want to use the same product you used for short hair, but the descriptions all kinda sound the same, a hair cream or a wax from one brand might totally different a cream or wax from another brand, and the high cost of quality products limits experimentation. So I have 3 types of styling product to try out for you, all from @hanz.de.fuko @hanzdefuko Hanz De Fuko Scheme Cream Hanz De Fuko Sponge Wax Hanz De Fuko Quicksand How to get flow hairstyle #hairstyle #menshairstyles #flow #flowhaircut #flowhairstyling #menslonghair #menslonghairstyle #hairhowto #hairproduct #hanzdefuko ♬ original sound - Mike
Growing out your hair is a journey filled with its own set of challenges, particularly when it comes to finding the right products. As your hair length evolves, so does your need for styling products that cater to its changing needs. It's difficult navigating through the plethora of product descriptions that all sound remarkably similar, not to mention the often prohibitive cost of high-quality options.
To make this journey easier, I've tested three different styling products from Hanz De Fuko—a premium brand renowned for its hair and skincare solutions—to see which one holds up best for a flow hairstyle. For context, my hair is shown in its natural, air-dried state before applying any products. Here’s a breakdown of each product and my personal experience with them.
1. Scheme Cream
- Application: Applied to slightly damp hair, styled with hands, and air-dried.
- Initial Impressions: The Scheme Cream turned out to be heavier than expected for a cream. It might be that I used a bit too much, but I wanted to give it a fair shot.
- Pros: Provided a strong hold, and by the end of the night, my hair still had a solid hold with a bit of shine.
- Cons: The product was noticeable and didn’t feel as natural as I’d hoped.
2. Sponge Wax
- Application: Same as above—on slightly damp hair, styled with hands, and air-dried.
- Initial Impressions: The hold was definitely lighter compared to Scheme Cream. Curls started to loosen up quickly, but I found this product to be pleasantly natural-feeling with a decent hold.
- Pros: Maintained a good hold throughout the day while feeling natural. By the end of the night, my hair was still in place with minimal residue.
- Cons: The hold wasn’t as strong, which might not be ideal for those seeking a more structured style.
3. Quicksand
- Application: Applied to slightly damp hair; did not require a blow dryer, which is a win for those who want to skip extra heat styling.
- Initial Impressions: Quicksand is a mix of dry shampoo and styling product. It absorbed moisture effectively, making it great for starting the day without damp hair.
- Pros: Hair felt natural after a few hours and was easy to run fingers through without losing shape.
- Cons: It did kill the curls a bit and left a slightly gritty texture in the hair, but the moisture-absorbing benefits and the lack of need for blow drying were significant advantages.
- My Personal Rankings
- Initially, Quicksand was my favorite of the three, primarily because of its dry shampoo properties and the natural feel it provided. However, after using it over several days, I noticed it left my hair feeling quite dry.
- Sponge Wax: Feels natural, maintains a good hold, and doesn’t leave noticeable residue.
- Quicksand: Provides excellent moisture absorption and natural feel, but can be a bit gritty and drying over time.
- Scheme Cream: Strong hold and shine, but feels heavier and less natural.
